Kanamycin Sulfate

Kanamycin is a broad spectrum antibiotic that kills gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Effective Against

It is usually recommended for diseases caused by Aeromonas, Vibrio, Flexibacter, and Mycobacteria (fish tuberculosis).

Diagnosis

Symptoms include red streaks or hemorrhaging, dropsy, fin and tail rot, inflamed gills, protruding or loss of scales, fungal infections, vibrio, wasting away, bloated body, white slime coating.

Action

It is often used in a bath for external bacterial infections, or it can be used in an aquarium without carbon filtration for absorption into the body through the skin and the gills. It will not affect the biological cycle (nitrification).
